Let's be honest

Lavender is tough above the soil. And fragile below it.Weeds steal the water.Wet crowns invite root rot.U-pick season turns paths to mud.

Every one of those problems starts with what is, or is not, under your plants. Thin fabric breaks down in a season and leaves plastic in your soil. Growers deserve better, so we publish our specs and let you check.

The honest map

The right fabric for every zone of your farm

Three products. Zero guesswork. We will tell you when a cheaper one is the right one.

Planting rows + weed control

SHIELD

3.2 oz woven weed barrier

The row fabric. Blocks weeds, stays permeable so water and air reach the roots, and holds up to years of field work. Burn clean planting holes and keep the crown clear and dry.

U-pick paths + event areas

XBAR

5 oz dual-layer woven, needle-punched backing

For walkways, event areas, and gravel paths that take real foot traffic. The woven top carries the load and the needle-punched backing adds puncture resistance, so u-pick weekends do not become mud weekends.

Drainage + wet spots

TERRA

4 / 6 / 8 oz non-woven needle-punched geotextile

Root rot thrives in wet soil, so drainage is your first defense. TERRA is designed for French drains, soil separation, and the drainage structures that keep crowns dry.

Landscape fabric for lavender farms: grower questions

Which landscape fabric is best for lavender planting rows?

A woven weed barrier like SHIELD (3.2 oz) is the standard choice for lavender rows. It blocks weeds while staying permeable, so water and air still reach the roots. Cut or burn planting holes and keep the fabric clear of the crown so the plant base stays dry.

Does landscape fabric prevent root and crown rot?

No fabric is a fungicide. What growers can control is drainage. Root and crown rot thrives in wet soil, so raised beds, well-drained ground, and properly built gravel paths and drains are the first defense. TERRA non-woven geotextile is designed for those drainage and soil separation structures.

Do USLGA member farms get special pricing?

Yes. Verified USLGA member farms receive an additional 5% on top of DOTDAY trade terms. Request bulk pricing and mention your USLGA membership, and our team will verify and set up your account.
