DOTDAY fabric is built to go down fast with no special tools. Match the fabric to the ground first, clear and level the area, then follow these three steps. The full walkthrough with video is just below, and the written version lives in the Installation Guides.
Lay the fabric flat over cleared, leveled ground and overlap each run by about 6 inches so weeds cannot find the seam.
Trim around edges, beds, and obstacles with scissors or a utility knife. SHIELD and XBAR have guide lines printed in to keep cuts straight.
Pin every 12 to 18 inches with landscape staples, then cover with mulch, gravel, or soil right away so UV does not hit the fabric.

Put XBAR down under a gravel drive last fall and it has not budged. No rutting, no weeds pushing up, and I did not have to top up the stone this spring. This is the fabric I spec now.

Used SHIELD 3.2oz for the gravel path between my raised beds. Blocks weeds completely and water still soaks right through. Easy to cut to fit the walkway and it is holding up great after six months under the rock.

Ran TERRA in a French drain behind a retaining wall. Water moves, the soil stays separated from the gravel, and there is zero clogging so far. Exactly what a geotextile should do.
Used TERRAThe dual layer makes a real difference under pavers. A light garden cloth would have pumped and torn by now. Installs clean, lays flat, and the base has stayed solid through a wet winter.

For SHIELD, either side works. For XBAR, place the fuzzy side face down so the woven face takes the wear on top. For TERRA, orientation does not affect performance.

DOTDAY fabrics block weeds coming up from below. Any surface weeds that appear grow in the mulch or soil on top and pull out easily, because their roots cannot penetrate the barrier. Keep seams overlapped so there are no gaps.

Yes. DOTDAY fabrics are chemically inert and safe to use around edible plants, including vegetables and herbs. They help retain moisture and reduce the need for herbicides.
