Frequently asked questions
Which landscape fabric is best for my project?
Choose SHIELD 3.2oz for garden beds, farm rows, and under mulch. Use XBAR 5oz for gravel driveways, pathways, and high-traffic hardscape. Choose TERRA for French drains, retaining walls, and drainage applications.
Woven vs non-woven landscape fabric – which is better?
Woven fabrics like SHIELD are best for weed suppression and ground cover. Non-woven fabrics like TERRA are engineered for drainage and filtration. XBAR's dual-layer construction combines both for maximum strength and durability.
Can water and nutrients pass through DOTDAY fabric?
Yes. All DOTDAY fabrics are engineered to be permeable - water, air, and nutrients pass freely through to the soil below. SHIELD 3.2oz and XBAR 5oz allow moderate flow ideal for garden beds and hardscape. TERRA 4–8oz offers high permeability specifically designed for drainage and filtration applications.
How do I install commercial weed barrier fabric properly?
Clear the site, unroll with 6-inch overlaps, secure with staples every 12–18 inches, and cover immediately with mulch or gravel for UV protection.
Will weeds grow through the fabric?
DOTDAY fabrics block 99% of weeds from below. Any surface weeds that appear grow in mulch on top and are easily removed - roots cannot penetrate our barrier.
Which side of the landscape fabric goes down?
For SHIELD, either side works. For XBAR, place the fuzzy side face down. For TERRA, orientation does not affect performance.
Is this fabric safe for vegetable gardens?
Yes. All DOTDAY fabrics are chemically inert and safe for use around edible plants, including vegetables and herbs. They help retain moisture and reduce the need for herbicides.
