XBAR is a 5 oz dual-layer fabric: a woven polypropylene top over a non-woven needle-punched backing. It is engineered for load and separation under hard surfaces - gravel, rock, pavers, and hardscape - where a lightweight weed barrier would pump and tear.
A 3 oz weed cloth is one sheet doing everything badly. XBAR splits the work: a woven face that takes the load, a needle-punched backing that blocks light and stops gravel pumping into your soil.
The upper woven layer carries the load and holds its shape under aggregate. Printed 12-inch guide lines keep spacing, cuts, and overlaps straight while water and nutrients pass straight through.
The bottom needle-punched layer adds bulk and puncture resistance and blocks the light weeds need, while staying breathable. It is what keeps gravel from pumping down into the soil.
